The Credit Counselling Society’s Education Team

Get to know the members of our education team before your first workshop. Anita Moore, CEPF, AFCC, RQIC
Financial Educator

As a Financial Educator based in British Columbia, Anita has 15+ years in the non-profit sector, and has gained over 25 years experience in the Financial Industry. Anita brings extensive knowledge, facilitation experience and a keen ability to build lasting relationships. In addition, Anita’s wealth of financial knowledge is well supported by her positive attitude and strength in building connections and establishing relationships. Anita is passionate about educating consumers in personal finance. In addition to her work experience, Anita has completed many courses including Investment Funds in Canada, Accredited Financial Credit Counsellor, Registered Qualified Insolvency Counsellor, and Certified Educator in Personal Finance. Email Anita.

Sheilagh Cahill, CEPF
Financial Educator

In her capacity as Financial Educator for British Columbia, Sheilagh presents financial literacy programs in the workplace. She champions the positive impact financial wellness provides for employees: improved well-being resulting in reduced stress, increased morale, engagement, and productivity. Sheilagh enjoys building partnerships and developing awareness about the services provided by CCS. She has over 10 years’ experience in business development, project management and producing television. Sheilagh earned a Certificate in Entertainment Administration from UBC, a Diploma in Business Management from Capilano University, and a Certified Educator in Personal Finance designation from the Centre for Financial Certifications. Email Sheilagh.

Manraj Waraich, BCom, CEPF
Financial Educator

Manraj is a Financial Educator based in Edmonton, Alberta. She has over 9 years of experience in community work including 5 years with the Credit Counselling Society. She has presented at various conferences and has served on expert panels including Families Supporting Adults with Mental Illness Alberta, CPHR, and the University of Alberta. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree through the University of Alberta’s School of Business. She completed her Certified Educator in Personal Finance Designation in August 2017. Mark Kalinowski, B.A., CEPF
Financial Educator

Mark is a Financial Educator and Credit Counsellor based in Calgary, Alberta. With over 8 years of non-profit counselling experience and having worked at two big banks he has seen how money works to make people happy and sad. He has a B.A. History and attained numerous financial courses and designations that make him well versed to talk about money. Tim St Vincent, CEPF
Financial Educator

Tim is the Credit Counselling Society’s Financial Educator for the GTA and surrounding area, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, and is based out of Winnipeg. Tim has over 25 years experience in Financial Services and is a retired Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Tim also taught the CFP program for several years, completed the Canadian Securities Course (Hons.), achieved his Certificate In Management (C.I.M.) Hons. and is a Certified Educator in Personal Finance (CEPF). Tim believes strongly in the power of education, planning and acting on your plan. Email Tim.

Anne Arbour, MBA, CEPF
Financial Educator

Anne is the Credit Counselling Society’s Financial Educator for the Greater Toronto Area. Anne brings over 25 years of experience in financial services and facilitation to this role, along with a passion to promote financial literacy in her community and to building strong working relationships and partnerships. Anne holds an MBA from York University – Schulich School of Business, and is a Certified Educator in Personal Finance (CEPF). Email Anne

Gary Rusyn, CEPF
Financial Educator

Gary is the Credit Counselling Society’s Financial Educator for Ottawa. He has over 15 years of experience in the financial industry, as well as teaching high school in Montreal. Gary strives on practicing what he teaches. Gary is also fluently bilingual in English and French. Gary is a Certified Educator in Personal Finance.

Amanda Martin, CEFP
Financial Educator

As a Financial Educator based in Hamilton, Ontario, Amanda provides financial literacy education to the people, employers, and financial institutions in these communities. Amanda has 10+ years in the non-profit sector and has gained over 9 years experience in the financial industry including her roles providing loans, mortgages, and debt recovery. In 2019, she completed her CEFP (Certified Educator in Personal Finance) designation. Amanda is passionate about building strong community relationships, giving back, and inspiring others to develop good money management habits so they can afford to create the life they want. Email Amanda

Catherine Lopez, B.A.
Financial Educator

Catherine is a Financial Educator – eLearning Specialist and is responsible for teaching online webinars and developing eLearning content. She has over 15 years of experience in customer service, training, and management. Catherine believes that education is essential when it comes to creating a sound financial plan and is passionate about expanding financial literacy online. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Diploma in Counselling and Human Development through Simon Fraser University. Channdika Thayver, MEd.
Financial Educator

Channdika is a Financial Educator and eLearning Specialist and is responsible for teaching online webinars and developing eLearning content. Channdika brings her experience working as an Academic Advisor in the post-secondary setting to her role with CCS. She has an MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction and is also a certified Life and Wellness Coach, with credentials from a school that is certified by the International Coaching Federation. Channdika greatly values ensuring that all individuals and communities feel represented, supported and welcome in the education that CCS offers to the community at large. Phil Wilkins, B.A., CEPF
Financial Educator

Phil is a Financial Educator and Credit Counsellor in the GTA. After 20+ years in banking and the financial services industry, he has transitioned to the non-profit sector and found the perfect home at CCS. With a B.A in Economics, numerous credit and portfolio/risk management courses, Phil topped his growth by raising 4 sons and enlisted his teaching and coaching talents into a baseball instructor, steering several teams to provincial appearances with two All-Ontario championships and a high-school regional victory. With a passion to succeed and a sincere love for his job, Phil believes that for every financial situation, there is a financial solution and together, we’ll find the answer. Email Phil.

Stacy Yanchuk Oleksy MSc, PHEc., CEPF Director of Education & Community Awareness

Stacy is the Director of Education and Community Awareness at the Credit Counselling Society. She has a Master’s degree in Family Ecology, is a certified Coach and a Certified Educator in Personal Finance. Stacy is a passionate and dynamic speaker and facilitator and has over 15 years’ experience in program development, adult education and leadership. She has presented at various conferences and has served on expert panels at the Pension & Benefits Summit, University of British Columbia and Carleton University. She has published articles in Canadian Living, Vanier Institute for the Family, My Money Coach, and Amik, and has been interviewed by CBC Radio, Global National, and the Toronto Star. Stacy has co-written two workbooks – “Making Cent$ of Money” and “Money Management Basics – 7 Steps That Will Help You Build a Budget That Works,” and has developed personal finance curriculum for various workshops and webinars.
