It’s Okay to Ask for Help with Debt
“Life just happened. My debt got to the point where I started to feel like I was drowning. I didn’t feel like I could fix it on my own, and I wanted to start living my life as an adult without debt. I decided to reach out for help. Feeling relieved, I knew that everything was going to be okay – a lot of work – but okay. I had a plan to pay back my debt and continue doing the things I love to do like yoga and travelling.”

More About the Credit Counselling Society & Our Standards
We’ve given non-profit consumer credit counselling since 1996. 95% of people who contact us are typically helped for free. The only time someone pays for our services is if they decide to go onto our Debt Management Program. This consolidates all of someone’s credit card and other unsecured debt payments into one affordable monthly payment that has significantly reduced or 0 interest. This program protects peoples’ privacy, allows them to restore their credit, eliminates their debt, and gets their finances back on track as quickly as possible. It’s just one of many tools we have to help people.
We believe that the best debt consolidation or debt help is an option that allows someone to get back on track as quickly as possible while helping them achieve their long-term financial goals. Unfortunately, our approach is at odds with the way some commission driven financial counselors, debt advisors, credit consultants, and credit advisors out there operate, but we believe that when someone is struggling financially, you need to look at all their options and focus on what’s going to help them the most in the long run. For this reason we don’t pay our staff commission – only a salary. In addition to this, to ensure our organization meets the highest national and international standards, we decided to join, open ourselves to audits by, and become accountable to the most respected organizations in our industry in Canada and North America, Credit Counselling Canada and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. We also report to a volunteer board of directors and to the Canada Revenue Agency. We’re also the only Canadian organization in our industry to annually open its books to an external auditor.
To benefit from one of our highly trained credit and debt counsellors having a look at your financial circumstances and working with you to see your choices for getting things back on track, give us a call now at 647-776-0485. Our help is free, confidential, and non-judgmental. The only thing you’ve got to lose is your debt.
The Credit Counselling Society also provides alternatives to filing for bankruptcy in the Region of Peel.
Placing Your Interests First
Our highest goal is to always put you first and look out for your best interests in all we do. One of the ways we do this is through accountability and transparency. Our organization and its staff are held to the most rigorous standards of accountability in our industry.
